Dance - Greedy Cat

Greedy Cat - Dance Moves

In Room 13 we have been learning about creating our own dance moves.
We read the story "Greedy Cat" and brainstormed the different moves cats make.
Here are our ideas:

We used these movements to make dance moves.  We froze and made statues of our cat-like movements.

Purposefulness

In Room 13 we have been learning about the virtue of 'Purposefulness'

Learning Intention
We are learning to demonstrate purposefulness

We will be successful when:
We discover our gifts
We have a clear vision of what we want to accomplish
We know why we are doing it
We focus on a goal
We get back on purpose if we get distracted
We persevere until we get results

Here are some of our goals that we are working on in reading, writing and maths.
In Room 13 we are purposeful with our learning!

We are learning what respectful communication looks like, sounds like and feels like.
Here is our 'Popplet' brainstorm.

Digital Footprints

Created with Padlet

In Room 13 we have been learning about our digital footprints.  We know that anything that we put on the internet will be there forever!  This is what we want to see on our digital footprint in the future.

Life Education Caravan

In Term 2 we were lucky to have Harold the giraffe come to our school in the Life Caravan and teach us about being healthy.

He taught us about the foods we should eat every day, some of the time and not all of the time.
We learnt about what our heart, lungs, stomach and brains do in our bodies.

We made a picnic with Harold and chose good foods to take with us to the picnic.

We learnt about how to keep our bodies healthy.

We learnt that the different parts of our body have different and important jobs to do!

Harold was tired so we had to wake him up!

Harold got a bit shy!

Harold told us he had weetbix for breakfast, lunch and dinner so he was feeling really tired.  We helped him think of different foods he could eat during the day.

Journeys

We have been learning about how 'Journeys create change and lead to new experiences".
We found out about:

The types of journeys people make
Why people embark on journeys
How journeys change people's lives

We created our own destination to journey to and stated reasons why we would like to journey there.

Mack and Patrick made a tropical island to journey to.  They wanted journey there so that they could swim in the sea and look at the beautiful fish.

Zara, Leon and Olivia also made a tropical island to journey to so that they could go swimming and lie in the hot sun!

Georgia, Molly and Toby wanted to journey to a tropical island too! They wanted to stay in a fancy hotel!

Paige, Maddie and Alex made their own Disneyland to journey to so that they could visit Minnie and Mickey mouse!

Rudi and Joe made an African safari to journey to our of playdough.  They want to visit all the animals like giraffes and zebras!

Kowhaiwhai Panels

Kowhaiwhai Panels

In visual art we have been learning about Maori Kowhaiwhai panels.

  • We are learning to explain what some Maori symbols mean.
  • We are learning incorporate Maori symbols into their art work in a creative and current manner.
  • We are learning demonstrate effective use of techniques shown using a variety of materials

  • We looked at different Maori patterns and symbols that we could use in our panels.
  • We chose to use koru (new beginnings) patterns and whakairo patterns (a hammerhead shark - strength and power) on our Kowhaiwhai panels.

Look how awesome they are!!

Kite Day

We all had such a fun day!
We made kites in our classrooms with our Dads and some of our Mums.

We went down to the field and flew them.

There wasn't a lot of wind but they all flew really high!

The faster we ran the higher they flew!

We were all very tired by the end of the day!
Lucky it was home time.

We can't wait for 'Kite Day' next year!
